About

Who we are and what we stand for

South Vancouver Veterans Council Society

We are a community-driven, volunteer-led society that fosters unity, respect, and service among veterans, first responders, and engaged citizens. Guided by honour, inclusion, and stewardship, we support those who have served and those who continue to serve through advocacy, education, and meaningful community initiatives. and engaged citizens.

Land acknowledgement

We carry out our activities on the unceded, ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. This acknowledgement is a living commitment: it is spoken at the start of all formal Society events and reflected in our ongoing work toward reconciliation and relationship-building.

Rooted in the values of honour, inclusion, and stewardship, we work collaboratively to support those who have served and those who continue to serve. Through advocacy, education, and meaningful initiatives, we aim to uphold traditions, strengthen community ties, and contribute to the well-being of our local and extended networks.

Stewardship of the Cenotaph

As stewards of the cenotaph at Memorial South Park in Vancouver, we honour the legacy of those commemorated there and ensure remembrance remains an active part of our community’s identity—past, present, and future.
